4. Students in a school are often classified into primary and secondary or junior and senior.
What is the criterion that is used? Do you think this is a useful classification? Discuss.
Ans. Students are classified as junior or primary as they form the base for the other classes-
secondary or senior classes. This classification is useful as it helps to understand that at
primary level basic curriculum will be taught which will become base level studies for
the secondary level. It also shows secondary level is the next step after the primary level.
comPAring the three SectorS
Very large number of goods and services are produced in all the three sectors. Also, the three
sectors have a large number of people working in them. Out of the three sectors, any sector
can dominate in terms of employment and production in an economy.
How do we count the various goods and services and know the total production in each sector?
Total production in each sector is calculated by adding the value of all goods and services
produced. Instead of adding actual numbers, values of goods and services are taken.
If 10,000 kgs of wheat is sold at `20 per kg, the value of wheat will be `2,00,000. The
value of 5000 coconuts at `15 per coconut will be `75,000. Similarly, the value of goods
and services in the three sectors are calculated, and then added up.
Final good and Intermediate good

customers goods and services.
