Ans. It is a government sponsored program that raises consumer awareness through print media,
advertisement audio campaigns and video campaigns. Through such campaigns the government
raises public awareness about common shopping mistakes and encourages people to shop
wisely.

Ans. It is because consumers have the right to get information about the particulars of goods
and services that they buy.

Ans. The Right to Information Act ensures its citizens all the information about the functions of

Ans. They are organisations which work for the rights of consumers and guide them how to file
cases in consumer courts. These organisations are also called Consumer Protection Councils.
14. What does consumer do if his case is dismissed in district level court?
Ans. If a case is dismissed in district level court, the consumer can appeal in state and then in
national level courts.

Ans. There are 6 Rights that are provided by Consumer Protection Act.

1. How can consumers use their “Right to seek Redressal”? Explain using an example
Ans. Consumer has the Right to seek Redressal against any unfair trade practice for exploitation.
(i) If a consumer has been made any false promise by the producer or he has suffered
due to a manufacturing defect, he/she has the Right to seek redressal. If any damage is
done to a customer, he/she has the right to get compensation depending on the degree
of damage.
(ii) For Example: a consumer has bought a pressure cooker with a faulty safety valve. This
has caused a severe damage. He has the Right to seek redressal from the company that
has manufactured it.
